After not sewing since highschool, this was one of my first projects. I didn't have a job at the time (waiting for green card stuff) and just used some super cheap fabric and minimal trim. I think it turned out nice considering my experience at the time and the money I had to spend. I made it to match a Purple Jacket which I since sold on Ebay. I wasn't happy with it but it was my first project and I hadn't discovered "fabritac" for trims. Once again, although this dress has some basis in the 12th century, it really isn't accurate to anything specific. Categorize it more as "fantasy". Simplicity pattern 5843 (I love the yellow one too!) This dress is made out of the same purple sheeting as the Colonial jacket (in order to get a perfect match) while all the other parts are made out of home decorator fabric. It wouldn't have been overly expensive to make except that home decorator fabric is bloody expensive (At like $24US/yard.) and a dress also takes 8 yards of fabric versus 3 in a jacket. . Thee pictures are well out of date. I guess I should do another photoshoot with it sometime. The headpiece I bought at a Renfest later on. |
