Ever since the first Star Trek gathering, conventions have had the label of being very "Dexter" where only the geekiest of the geeks show up to argue which Captain is best. While I can't deny that it is still a bit geeky, some conventions have evolved to be more broadscoped in definition and style, attracting families, normal folk and yes, sometimes strange people. Dragoncon and San Diego Comic con are two major events that definitely defy the norm. Famous stars from past and current show up, major vendors such as Lego, Kenner and film studios set up booths and subjects of interest range from Wrestling, to Robot Wars, Literature, ghost hunting and more. There is something for everyone.

This is where it comes to my involvement. Conventions are the best place to showcase a costume. Period. Many other people do the same thing I do, some better, some worse, however it is incredibly fun to see just how much creativity can be put into an outfit. Dragoncon is the single best event (in my opinion) for beautiful and amazing costumes. Although Costumecon is also up there in scope. I used to post every single convention photo I ever had. However I'm going to start limiting it to only the major and worthwhile events. |
