Dragoncon2003 was awesome! I spent the first night hanging out and then helping my friends get into orc makeup until 4:30am (mostly watching but I did hold the glue). Nick and Brian did an awesome job of painting and gluing like 7 people up and then running around the con in harassing and scaring people! The only bad news is that the hotel said that they did over $300 damage to the room because of all the blood and paint. But the good news is that they got on the first page of the Atlanta Journal Constitution for their beautiful work and in-character display. I am so proud of them! Read the cool article here on Corey, one of my best buddies that they painted up! To see more of these guys in other events check out the Ben Zak Bar mitzvah. The rest of the LOTR people I saw such as Got Maul and other prop board dudes also did awesome jobs as elves, ringwraiths, Sauron and hobbits. They obviously spent a lot of time on their outfits and I was very impressed. Way to go guys! The Harry Potter people in DarthKharn's group (I apologize for not knowing all your names) had lovely costumes and I am very very sorry that I did not get a chance to suit up with them. We kept missing each other!! Next year I don't want to miss out because they did flippin' cool costumes! Oh and I can't forget the winners of the costume contest Brian Frey, etc, etc who also rocked in terms of quality costumes with "Where the Wild things Are". Who didn't have that as a childhood book?!?! Congratulations to them for their outstanding win second year in a row! (I apologize if I sound like I'm name dropping, I'm not best buddies with everyone here or anything, I just want to give these guys credit for the slave work they did on their costumes. I LOVE their outfits!!! Thanks for making DC enjoyable guys/gals) As for me, the the rest of the weekend I spent time with friends, attended the annual DMEB dinner, rode in a Ferrari at 130MPH (thanks Dr. Strangelove!) hung out and wore costumes I wish I could have had something new to display besides my awesome Nimbus 2000 but thats life. Next year!! Thank you everyone for coming and hanging out with me. I was glad to meet new and old friends alike and enjoy the few days we have together!! I hope to see ALLLL of you next year. Or else. Here are some photos of the weekend! If you have photos of me, let me know and I'll add them to my webpage along with credit/link to you! If you'd like to borrow my pictures, just give me a link to http://www.sithvixen.com :) If I borrow your picture and forget to give you credit, remind my stupid ass. |
